Death Valley to Mount Whitney  Itinerary

3:30 PM: Depart Missoula

10:30 PM: Arrive near Pocatello, Idaho

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

8:00 AM: Depart Pocatello (or surrounding areas)

8:00 PM: Arrive in Badwater, CA, camp in Badwater parking lot.

8:30 PM: prepare everything for the next two days: Bike bag, biking fuel, climbing bag, etc.

Thursday, December 20, 2012

4:00 AM: Wake up and grab bag, calibrate GPS for Cody in the Subaru.

4:30 AM: Begin biking segment day.  Head northeast 16.5 miles on Badwater Road.

5:45 AM: Turn left onto CA-190 W and continue for 86.8 miles.

1:30 PM: Continue onto CA-136 W and go 17.5 miles

2:45 PM: Turn right onto US-395 N/S Main Street in Lone Pine California.  Go to the Eastern Sierra Interagency Visitor Center in Lone Pine, CA to pick up a registration form for climbing Whitney.  (760) 876-6222.  Continue 1.8 miles. 

3:15 PM: Turn left onto Whitney Portal Road and go 11 miles and up a really large hill            

4:30 PM: Turn left toward Campground Road, go .1 miles and then take the first onto Campground Road. 

4:35 PM: Arrive at the final destination for biking.  Establish a camping spot and prepare for the hike.

Friday, December 21, 2012 (The End of the World)

2:00 AM: Wake up and grab bag, consume, and bring plenty of water.  Give something to Cody so he can be occupied for the next 24 hours.

2:30 AM: Depart Whitney Trailhead and attempt summit of Mount Whitney!

8:00 AM: Wake up and depart Lone Pine and head towards Missoula.
